An artist who brings buildings and homes to life in magical watercolour paintings has branched out to offer affordable quickies.
Amanda Hamilton, a former pupil of Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls, is celebrated for her joyful, uplifting interpretations of local landmarks as well as stunning sites further afield.
Now, people will be able to commission Amanda to capture the essence of their beloved homes in her unique style right before their eyes.
The Ross-based painter has launched Quirky Quickies: £275 includes a prosecco lunch for two alongside the artist at work.
Amanda said: “Most of us adore our homes. We put time, thought, love and effort into creating the perfect space for ourselves and our families. We become deeply attached to these spaces – they’re filled with memories and nostalgia. “Many people love the idea of an aerial photo or painting of their home, but not everyone wants to spend thousands of pounds on a bespoke commission, neither for themselves nor as a gift for a friend. “This reality had me thinking and after a lot of experimentation I have come up with what I hope you will agree is a pretty groovy solution – something completely different at a completely different price to enable anyone to have a ‘through the looking glass’ original painting either on their wall or created for a friend or relative.”
Quirky Quickies offer a vital, fresh, loose yet still iconically ‘Amanda style’ painting of your home that is completed in just four hours.
Pets can sometimes be featured in the piece too depending on the complexity of the painting.
Amanda runs Quirky Quickies on request at Woody’s café above Woods of Whitchurch. She is also launching sessions in the conservatory café at Labels Designer Outlet in Ross-on-Wye on August 12.
You can see Amanda’s work on display at an exhibition at Taurus Crafts in Lydney, where she is this season’s resident artist until October. Her art is also hanging at Brockweir Village Shop until the beginning of September.
