As a time of transition between school and university, life in the sixth form at HMSG acts as a springboard to exciting opportunities ahead. We offer a well-balanced education and the chance for each girl to develop personally, so they feel ready for higher education or the world of work.
You will be studying subjects you have chosen yourself, and given increasing freedom to organise your own study time. The responsibility for organising your own work and meeting deadlines is excellent training for the challenges ahead.
Throughout your time in the sixth form, your personal tutor will monitor your progress and offer support and guidance. Together with the Assistant Head (Sixth Form) and Careers Advisor, they will also offer advice on university applications and the UCAS application process. Advice will also be available to students who wish to apply to universities overseas, undertake a gap year or apply for apprenticeships or other work-based opportunities.
Our unique collaboration with Monmouth School allows us to offer a very wide range of A level subjects. It also enables us to enhance the academic and social opportunities for students from both schools.
Sixth form is a time of enrichment and development, offering many opportunities for new challenges and responsibilities. All girls undertake an element of voluntary service, and have opportunities to develop their leadership potential through our prefect body. Clubs and societies abound, many of which are organised and run by our sixth formers.
Dedicated sixth form facilities are housed in The Salter Sixth Form Centre. The common rooms and café are used by pupils from both HMSG and Monmouth School. The study areas are also available before and after school and are well-equipped with computers.
Life in the sixth form at HMSG is best experienced first-hand. Visit us and meet our students and staff, take a tour to see our wonderful facilities and find out about the opportunities on offer. I look forward to meeting you.
