Year 8 very much enjoyed their trip to Bristol Zoo. They started the day with an interactive lecture on Animal Behaviour, learning about the way animals adapt their behaviour to promote survival. This was illustrated by mealworms, a milk snake and a ferret, all of which they were pleased to handle.
The girls then grouped up to investigate the animals they had been researching: meerkats, lorikeets, okapi, giant turtles and others.
After lunch the highlight was a chance to head for the heights on Zooropia: swinging from the ropes amongst the gibbons, lemurs and gorillas. Some of the staff regretted offering to join in with this activity, in which you really did need a head for heights.
Girls returned to school fired up to pursue their study of their chosen animal group, armed with photographs and sketches.
