Joint School trip to the Natural History Museum, London

Early on the morning of Sunday 27th March, sixth form and staff from HMSG and Monmouth School set out to visit the Natural History Museum in London.  The sun was shining when we arrived in South Kensington and made our way into the museum.  We were greeted by the Diplodocus, which fills the Central Hall.  From there, many galleries full of wonderful specimens and interactive displays were waiting for us.  As well as old favourites like the Human Biology and Ecology exhibitions there were new areas; the Darwin Centre and interactive videos in the Attenborough Studio.  Here you can find out about where you come from and see what the scientists who work in the museum are doing.  The Spirit Tour was a fascinating introduction to the preserved specimens and what happens behind the scenes.  We also had time to see other museums in the area or do a bit of shopping in the afternoon before heading back to Monmouth.  One of the group also managed to acquire a very cute, if rather large, souvenir.
