SCIENCE LIVE!

A group of Year 10 girls were recently treated to a fabulous day of lectures, given by well-known TV scientists, at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham.

The top speakers included Jim Al-Khalili, who spoke fascinatingly about Black Holes and Wormholes, and Andreas Sella (How the Zebra Got Its Stripes) whose impressions of rabbits had us all laughing.  Lord Robert Winston was most engaging in his talk on in vitro fertilisation (he came into the audience to answer questions).  Steve Jones got everyone thinking in his talk on genetic diseases and the ethics of gene transplantation while Maggie Aderin (with charming small daughter) give us an insight into the life of a space scientist.  A chief examiner also gave valuable hints on answering exam questions successfully.

All present deemed the day to be most worthwhile and inspiring.
