Menna Runs For Wales - UK Schools International Cross Country Event

On the last weekend of the Easter Term, while many were looking forward to a well-earned break, Menna (Yr 10) was pushing herself to the limit in the UK Schools’ International Cross Country in Northern Ireland.

The trip to Antrim began at the crack of dawn on the Welsh XC Team coach at Aberystwyth, to begin the long trip.

“I met many new friends on the way!  After a twelve hour journey we arrived at our destination, had an inspirational team talk and then got some essential sleep ready for the big day.  When we were watching our team mates in the other age groups run in the earlier races the atmosphere was amazing and once I had watched some of the best runners in the UK, my excitement grew!”

The course was a challenging 4.6km and in a very fast race Menna came in 25th  (running 17.04mins) overall and 4th out of the 8 girls in the Welsh U16 team.  This was an excellent achievement for a competitor who still has another year to race in this age group.

Well done Menna!  The XC club are very proud of you.
