La Côte Opale 2011 – Year 8 French trip

This year Year 8 visited the Opal Coast in Northern France. We left school at seven in the morning and headed off for the cliffs of Dover to cross over to the sandy beaches of Calais by ferry.
First we visited the sand dunes before partaking of an à la carte three course evening menu at our centre. Rooms slept up to four and each had an ensuite bathroom.
We then spent an action packed Saturday: we bartered for berets in Le Touquet market, went on a secret supermarket sweep at midday and baked bread in the afternoon.
On Saturday night we celebrated ‘un anniversaire’ before the evening dance competition and disco.
Sunday was both educational and enjoyable as we visited a dairy farm where cheese is made and the Azincourt museum, where we all got hands on helping Henry V fight the French.
We then had to order a drink in a French café before watching a French film at the cinéma. We all had a wonderful time and would like to express a ‘grand merci’ to our dream team of teachers.
