The Schools’ Challenge is a general knowledge quiz run along the same lines as University Challenge.  Junior and Senior teams from HMSG are entered every year and this spring HMSG hosted the Junior Schools' Challenge, in which 8 schools took part:  HMSG, Rougemont, Caerleon, Christ College Brecon, Howells, Bishop of Llandaff, Hereford Cathedral and Monmouth School.

The HMSG junior teams comprised of Year 7 and 8 girls.  Both teams played very competitively, drawing on their general knowledge and responding very well under pressure.  HMSG’s  A team; Milly, Ellie, Eleanor and Zanetta, won against Rougemont and Brecon in the first round which took them through to the semi-finals.  A tough contest against Howell's led to a narrow defeat.  Monmouth School were overall winners.
