This year the HMSSO (Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools’ Symphony Orchestra) workshops are being hosted by HMSG and for the first time will be directed by the Head of Performance Studies, Mrs Ruth Friend.  This was the first of three workshops which will be rehearsing one of the great orchestral works, Mussorgsky’s ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’ orchestrated by Maurice Ravel.  The performance of this work will take place in March 2012 and will form the first half of a concert that will also include a joint performance of Carl Orff’s choral masterpiece, ‘Carmina Burana’.
