The second HMSSO workshop of the year took place in the Hamersley Hall, HMSG’s music studio, on Sunday.  This was a second opportunity for the musicians of both schools to tackle Mussorgsky’s ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’ which Mrs Friend, this year’s conductor, describes as a ‘fiendishly challenging’ musical score.  After five hours of intensive rehearsal, the challenges were being met and many parts of this difficult score were suddenly taking shape and audibly coming to life.  Well done to all the musicians who took part and also to the instrumental staff who gave up their Sunday afternoon to help the students during the sectional rehearsals.

The next and final workshop takes place on Sunday, 11^th March and of course the highly anticipated concert, which will take place at Wyastone and includes the choral classic ‘Carmina Burana’ will be on 20^th March, commencing at 7.30pm.
