On Saturday 28th April, 12 girls from HMSG were at the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham to represent Wales in the Junior Inter-Regional Regatta for Under 16s. First on the water at 8.30am was Skye, who put up a valiant fight over a very rough course finishing 5th in her heat and going through as the fastest sculler into the J14 B final.
Next to take to the windy and wavy conditions were the J15 Four who managed to fight back to get 3rd place in their heat and fourth place overall. The final race of the day turned out to be the J16 Four who battled with the conditions as well as the other competitors. They were drawn in one of the worst lanes for wind and rough water but took the lead from the very beginning and stretched it out over the course, pulling away from our rivals, Lady Eleanor Holles. The crew of Felicity, Lara, Rachel, Charlotte and Elena finished in style several lengths ahead of all their rivals and won Gold in the last race of the day.
In addition to this Pippa and Molly who took part in the Regatta as part of the Ross Rowing Club team, won a Silver and Bronze medal respectively.
