School meals

Providing a varied and balanced diet for over 800 staff and pupils is the role fulfilled by the highly qualified team in the HMSG Catering Department.  Their challenge is to provide healthy meals that are interesting and exciting, taking into account diners' likes and dislikes and, as far as is practical, their religious and cultural requirements.  Then to repeat this, day in day out, throughout the term.  There is no point in offering food that is technically healthy if it is so dull and repetitive that little gets eaten.

We aim to raise awareness of the importance of healthy eating by promoting healthy options and by offering a wide and varied range of dishes taking into consideration current eating trends.  We work closely with our suppliers to investigate new products and ways of promoting healthier options more effectively.  Wherever possible our menus are cooked using alternative cooking methods that will make them healthier, for example, baking or grilling rather then frying.

Full and clear information is provided at each serving location to the particular benefit of those with food allergies.

Inglefield House girls (Years 3-6) celebrate their birthdays at lunch time.  One of those occasions has been recorded for the background audio to this page.  Good friends, good food, and good cheer!
