Wallingford Regatta

On the 2nd May, the rowers completed at Wallingford Regatta, which is held in Eton on the course for the 2012 Olympics.  After getting the boats ready in the pouring rain, the first crews to race were competing in the Junior 18 coxed fours category, with some girls racing competitors three years their senior.  The crew of Emily, Jo, Freddie, Grace and Hollie came 4th, while Alice, Kathryn, Lizzie, Alice and Sophie also raced well, achieving 6th place.

The next crew to race were Jess, Kirsten, Saskia, Lizzie and Laura, who raced in a coxed four as novice women, putting in a convincing race to come 2nd.  Jess, Lizzie and Laura then raced with Ellie and Alice in the afternoon, coming 7th after racing down the 2000m course.

The final crew of the day to race was a Junior 16 coxed four, of Emily, Jo, Lizzie and Kathryn who were coxed by Hollie.  They came third in their category, after putting in a strong performance.

The whole club enjoyed competing and are now looking forward to National Schools Regatta, which is held later in May.
