Walking for Lwala

Was it a run or a walk?  Neither.  It was an expedition to the Biblins in aid of Lwala Girls Secondary School in Africa.  Year 9 pupils at HMSG have enthusiastically embraced the cause of raising funds for girls in Uganda.  All kinds of charity events have taken place but this was their biggest task yet, to organise a sponsored walk to the Biblins and back on a Saturday afternoon.  Girls, parents and teachers assembled at the Rowing Club, anxious to get started.  Many girls were in fancy dress and one team entered as a five legged race!

Arianna was the first girl home and there was quite a delay before the other groups came into view.  By 4.30 p.m. as the rain started to fall, all the groups returned to the boat house and enjoyed the tea and cakes provided.  The girls had a real sense of achievement in walking the 8 miles having raised funds for pupils in the link school in Uganda.  Well, done girls!
