The ceremony followed the same format as the Oscars and was hosted by Marty Jopson, of BBC television’s ‘The One Show’. Clips of each of the films were shown and the standard was very impressive. The girls were treated to lunch and afternoon tea at the Royal Institution and while they were there were able to view the original apparatus used by renowned scientists, such as Sir Humphrey Davy, Michael Faraday and Alessandro Volta. They also had fun playing a game identifying the ten elements of the Periodic Table discovered at the RI. Afterwards, there was time to sight-see and spend a very enjoyable hour at the vast toy shop, Hamley’s, before returning to Monmouth.
