Pangbourne Junior Sculls 13/11/10
On Saturday 13th of November, HMSGRC had an early start ready to compete at Pangbourne Junior Sculls, against some of the top crews in the country. In the first division, the Junior 18 coxless quad of Grace, Holly, Jo and Kathryn won their event, and were also the fastest women’s crew of the morning. They were also competing against the crew of Emily, Lizzie, Rachel and Jess, who attained second place in the same category.

Another 1st place was achieved by the Junior 16 coxed quad, of Anna, Cerri, Charlie, Bethan and Flic, while all the year tens put in strong performances in their single sculls, as did Molly, who is only in year nine.
In the second division, Lara and Emily raced in a junior 15 double, and achieved second place, with two more year ten doubles just behind them. The senior girls then raced well in single sculls, with particularly good performances from Jo and Holly, who attained first and second places respectively. The junior 14 quad also raced well, having never competed at Pangbourne before.

Fours Head of the River 14/11/10
The senior rowers then went on to race at Fours Head of the River, one of the biggest races of the season. Over 500 crews entered, from Oxford and Cambridge Fours, to our own two quads. Both crews successfully completed the 7.2K boat race course, with a last minute substitution of Charlie, a year 10 who raced extremely well with and against girls three years her senior. In their category, the A quad put in a strong performance and came 17th, while the B crew came 27th whilst racing against some of the top crews in the country.
HMSG had a successful two days, and are now looking forward to competing at Hampton on the 27th November.
