Rhiannon to play in National Orchestra and Brass Band

Rhiannon (Year 9) has been offered a place in the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Wales and the National Youth Brass Band of Wales!  She auditioned for both groups in early November in Cardiff and had to perform two contrasting pieces, sight reading and scales.  For the Youth Brass Band she was auditioned by Nick Childs, conductor of the NYBBW and Black Dyke Brass Band.   Matthew Thistlewood auditioned her for the Wind Orchestra.  To have performed for such famous conductors is an achievement in itself.

Last year she was the youngest ever brass player to be accepted into the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Wales at just 12 and is still very young to have been offered a place for NYBBW at 13.  The National Youth Wind Orchestra of Wales course will be especially important to Rhiannon as it is being held in the Easter holidays - at HMSG!

Well done Rhiannon!
