On Friday the 12th of March, two coxed quads raced at Dorney Lake, Eton, at the Junior Sculling Head.
The crew of Anna, Natalie, Ceri, Helen and Laura put in a good race, coming 36th, while the year nine crew of Rachel, Eloise, Lara Hawkins, Elena and Felicity came 28th after racing almost 6000m.
Then, on Saturday the 13th of March, HMSG rowers competed at Women’s Head of the River, meaning the two competing eights had to race approximately 8000m on the Thames, for the second time that week for some rowers.
The first eight came 9th in their category and the second eight came 10th, while racing as junior eights, attaining places of 166th and 215th overall-whilst competing against university and club eights.
The whole club is now looking forward to racing at summer regattas, including National Schools, in May.
HMSG Rowing Club attended Schools' Head of the River on Thursday 11th March 2010. The race was 4.25 miles and the results are as follows:
The J15 8+ consisting of Alice, Eloise, Anna, Izzy, Chloe, Lottie, Portia, Jess and Laura put in a convincing performance for their first row on the Tideway, coming 6th.
The J18 4x of Jess, Kathryn, Saskia and Alice raced in the category "school's championship quads" coming 10th, competing against and beating crews 2 years their senior.
The J16 'B' 4+ of Rachel, Alice, Bethan, Grace and Felicity raced in the J16 category although they are only J15s. They raced in true Habs' style showing great potential as they were placed 6th out of 14 crews.
The J16 'A' 4+ of Ellie, Lizzie, Jo, Emily and Hollie had a great row, winning their category.
Altogether, the Habs' rowers had a great day worth of rowing, gaining plenty of experience from one of the most important races of the season.
