Reading Regatta, Saturday 12th March 2011

On Saturday morning, the crew of the first VIII consisting of Emily, Kathryn, Grace, Holly, Charlie, Alice, Jess, Jo and cox Felicity travelled up to Reading, to complete a 4.6 kilometre race, against three experienced crews in their category.  After a strong start, within two minutes the girls had caught up with the crew in front.  After a brief clash of blades, the crew stormed ahead, eventually finishing the race in a convincing 2nd place, only 16 seconds behind the winner.  The girls came away from the race with a sense of achievement, after completing the first race in the boat club’s new VIII, ‘Haberdasher’s Kay’, and are now looking to improve on their performance for Thursday, at the competitive School's Head of the River.
