National Schools’ Lacrosse

National Schools’ LacrosseThe 1st team had a successful and exciting National Schools’ Lacrosse Tournament held at Harlington Sports ground, London.  With over 55 schools competing in the tournament, HMSG did themselves proud by finishing 3rd in division 2.  All their hard work in training four times a week since September resulted in a performance the girls themselves should feel proud of.  They displayed outstanding skills, team prowess, good sportsmanship and determination.

Amy (Captain) and Emily (vice-captain) led the team to many victories and have been excellent role models throughout the year.  A special mention must go to Harriet (year 13) and Clare (year 13) who received 'man of match' for the duration of the tournament.  Also to Brigid who has played for the first team since Year 11 and sadly had to retire injured on day one of the festival.  Well done to all girls and especially to all year 13 girls who played their last tournament for school.  Good luck with everything and keep Laxing!

Following a successful weekend for the senior girls, the U15 team travelled up to London on Monday to compete in the National Schools’ Lacrosse Tournament.  Lights were out early and heads on pillows ready for the grueling and competitive lacrosse matches ahead.  More than 50 schools competed in the tournament.  We were placed in section 1 against Benendon, St Helen's and St Katherine's, Sherborne, St James, and Cheltenham Ladies’ College.  The matches started at 9:30, with each match lasting 20 minutes.  The girls played with passion and determination and displayed outstanding team work, resulting in 2 wins and 3 losses.  All matches were very close and could have gone either way, with only one goal between them.  A special mention must go to Sian, Amelia and Ceri, who were awarded 'man of match' in separate games.

A big thank you to Ellie (captain) and Anna (vice-captain) for leading their team to success this season.  Miss Tamplin states 'this team has come along away and they should be proud of themselves.  They have trained 3 times a week and given of their best throughout the year. Well done to Ellie and Anna and all the U15's.  Good luck at senior level!'
