
During the Michaelmas term 2011 there were performances of the ‘Requiem’ by Faure; a concert in aid of ‘Children in Need’ which raised £3,200 in one evening; a service in celebration of St. Catherine, one of several important dates in the school calendar; two Carol services at the end of term; one for the pupils, and one for parents and pupils which took place in our local community church St. Marys. On alternate weeks informal concerts or ‘tea Concerts’ as they are affectionately known, took place in our purpose built Music Studio and proved to be very popular with parents, staff and pupils: an opportunity for tea and biscuits at the end of a busy week whilst being entertained by aspiring and developing musicians.
In 2012 rehearsals are already underway for performances of ‘Carmina Burana’ and Mussorgsky’s ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’ which will both be performed at Wyastone Concert Hall in March. ‘Minimus’ the musical; our annual Eisteddfod which this year takes place aptly on St David’s Day; Speech Day; Junior Music Competition for instrumentalists and vocalists; the very popular ‘Jazz Cafe’ featuring the Jazz Crusaders in a jazz club environment; and several ‘Tea Concerts’
