38 pupils pitted their literary wits on Tuesday evening at Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for girls. Pupils from Years 7 and 8 displayed their knowledge of literature and competed for the Junior Cup. The very popular Chocolate Rounds showed that pupils could readily identify short excerpts from a variety of books ranging from Alice in Wonderland to Airman. This is a chance for individuals to display their knowledge and win a large bar of chocolate for the first correct answer. The only extract which caused them a problem was a brief reading from The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. However, the parents quickly identified the title and walked off with the chocolate!
It was a most enjoyable evening and Mrs J Anderton, Librarian, Monmouth School and Mrs F Green, Librarian, HMSG are now busy planning the next contest for Upper School pupils at the end of the Lent Term.
