In September 2011 the pupils started a new exciting ICT course, which will not only offers competencies in the usual MS Office programs, but will launch new creative work in Stop-Frame Animation.  Pupils will also learn how to create and edit audio files to make everyday presentations more original and memorable.

At HMSG we want to celebrate the girls’ achievements and so at the end of the year, the new HMSG ICT Diploma will be awarded to all year 9 girls who perform well.  The combined efforts - in class and at the end of the year, in the internal examination – will be assessed together and rewarded with the Diploma.

Classwork will comprise a variety of tasks:

  • For the communicating task you may be asked to use the following, a DTP package, a Word Processor, a CAD/Drawing package, a Web authoring software, an Audio Editor, Stop-Frame Animation or Presentation software (to include multimedia).
  • For the handling data task you will be asked to develop a Database.
  • For the modelling task you will be asked to construct a Spreadsheet.

At the end of the academic year, the Year 9 pupils will be able to use a range of ICT tools in a purposeful way to tackle questions, solve problems and create ideas and solutions of value.  They will have been encouraged to explore and use new ICT tools as they become available.  Finally, they will be able to apply ICT learning in a range of contexts and in other areas of learning, work and life.
