On Saturday 27^th November, HMSGRC travelled through the snow to compete at Hampton Small Boats Head.  The girls raced over the 3km course in freezing conditions at the most important event of the season.  In the junior 18 doubles, despite ice coating their boats, Jo raced well with a girl from Llandaff coming 3^rd, while Gracie, Jess and Ellie also put in strong performances.  Jo then raced in a junior 17 double with Lizzie, and they again came 3^rd, with Kathryn and Emily also completing the course, attaining a good time.

The club also entered the junior 16 doubles, with 5 boats out of 33 containing HMSG girls.  The double of Gracie and Charlie did especially well, coming 2^nd and achieving a time only 10 seconds behind the winners.  In the junior 15 doubles both boats competed well in the winter weather and the girls then braved the weather again to race in singles in the afternoon.  All girls racing in single sculls finished the course and achieved fast times, Charlie successfully gained 6^th place, Lizzie achieved 14^th place out of 27, and Alice came 22^nd in her category, against 53 other rowers.

Everyone was pleased to be back in the warm after a freezing day, but the club is now looking forward to 2011 and competitions in the New Year.
