A supportive programme of pastoral care ensures that every girl's personal welfare is monitored and any concerns dealt with sensitively and efficiently.
The aim of pastoral care within the school is to create a caring and supportive environment both in and out of the classroom, helping each pupil to feel valued as an individual. The first point of contact for pupils is usually their form teacher who sees them everyday and has a role in monitoring their academic progress as well as being concerned for their personal wellbeing.
The form tutors are supported by a wider pastoral team which includes the Head of Year, Matron, Head of Boarding, Heads of House, the School Chaplain and the Deputy Head with responsibility for pastoral matters. There is a peer support group within the school run by the sixth form and a buddy system for new pupils to the school. In addition there is a comprehensive Personal and Social Education programme throughout the school which covers aspects of relationships, careers and health issues.
The presence of a vertical house system throughout the school enables relationships to be formed across year groups. Weekly house assemblies and house activities foster and support the pastoral aspect of the Houses.
