Friends of HMSG

Friends of HMSGFriends of HMSG provides an active link between parents, staff and others associated with the school.  We believe that a strong relationship between parents and the school will enhance the educational experience of our daughters.  We aim to support the school in its efforts to foster that relationship and to increase parents’ sense of involvement in the school.

Accordingly we seek to provide parents with opportunities to meet one another and the staff of the school informally on occasions ranging from the Spring Ball to Jazz Night to the Pimms tent on Sports Day and occasional lectures.  We are always open to ideas for new activities.

The funds of Friends are available for use within the school community for the benefit of all the girls and we aim to provide financial support for projects of a wide ranging nature, which may be outside the normal budgets of the school.  In past years Friends has not assumed an active fundraising role and the financial support we give has derived predominantly from annual subscriptions from parents, supplemented by Gift Aid as we are a registered charity.

Friends of HMSG serves both the Senior School and Inglefield House.  The Friends Committee consists of the Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, our Headmistress, Mrs Helen Davy, our Bursar, Mrs Tessa Norgrove, and a staff representative, Mrs Amanda Poyner.  We are currently working on setting up a system of year representatives, but the meetings are open and anyone is welcome to attend to find out more about what we do.  The committee meets once or twice each term to plan events and discuss projects put forward by staff or pupils.  Requests from within the school for financial support are considered and voted upon by those present at meetings.
