Curriculum

In Year 7, pupils study 17 subjects.  The humanities, science, languages and classics are taught in form groups.  Pupils are set for mathematics and English.  Practical subjects are taught in groups of approximately 11 and PE is taught across the whole year group.  P.S.E. is covered out of the teaching day in form time.  Home economics, drama and library are taught in rotation, two terms home economics and one term drama and library.

In Year 9, pupils follow a similar schedule to Year 7 but sciences are taught separately and P.S.E. is timetabled.  Languages are taught in sets and a choice of three subjects out of design technology, home economics, art and music is made.  A range of music options are available to suit all abilities.

In Year 10 students follow a core curriculum including English, maths, a language and science.  Pupils make GCSE option choices from a wide range offered each year.

In the sixth form there is a co-ordinated timetable with Monmouth School which means that sixth form students have access to a range of well over 30 A and AS level subjects.  A sixth form prospectus detailing the subjects on offer is available from admissions.
