History Curriculum Overview – KS3

We believe that History in Years 7-9 should develop the girls' historical skills, literacy, numeracy, ICT and confidence. We use a variety of teaching strategies and techniques that gives all girls the opportunity to study History with enjoyment and a sense of achievement. At this stage we also want History to be fun and motivate the girls to want to study History at GCSE and AS/2 Level.

The Key Historical Skills are as follows and each one is a focus of a particular lesson:

v     Chronology
v     Knowledge and understanding
v     Interpretations of History
v     Historical Enquiry
v     Presentation and communication
