All girls at HMSG study Biology, Chemistry and Physics until the age of sixteen.
In Years 7 and 8 aspects of the three subjects are taught under the umbrella of Science by the same teacher for the whole year.
In Year 9 girls take Biology, Chemistry and Physics as separate subjects; IGCSE was introduced in January 2010.
In Years 10 and 11 a choice is offered between Double Award Science and the three separate sciences, Triple Award. Double Award leads to two GCSE grades and Triple Award to three.
The sciences are popular choices at AS and A-level; 55% of the current Year 12 take at least one science subject and many girls go on to study science related courses at university.
