“Knowledge is free at the Library. Just bring your own container.”

From fairies and vampires to ethics and politics, HMSG Library is a well of inspiration, discovery and knowledge for pupils of all ages.

We house over 17,000 fiction and reference books - all carefully selected to support and complement the curriculum - as well as encourage and inspire a love of reading for pleasure. Students can browse and borrow everything from the latest novels to classical literature, as well as use the extensive reference library, current and historic periodicals, daily newspapers and topical magazines for study and research. There is also a wide range of DVDs for pupils to borrow.

The Library is staffed from 8:15am until 8pm (Monday to Thursday) and from 8.15am to 5.30pm on Fridays (except on the last day of term, when we close at the end of the school day) to enable as many students as possible to do homework and benefit from the extensive facilities.  Our huge catalogue is also available on the school Intranet site, allowing pupils to browse and request books remotely should they wish to.
