Dec - Year 7 Theatre Visit to see ‘A Christmas Carol’ at Birmingham Rep.

Year 7 enjoyed a wonderful afternoon’s entertainment with this musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic Christmas novel. The show included some dazzling special effects, especially as the ghosts arrived to teach Scrooge his lesson. The songs complemented the plot remarkably well and evoked a range of emotions in the audience. A timely theatrical experience!

Sept -Year 8 Visit to BBC Television Centre, London

Y8 were allowed to go behind the scenes of some well known radio and television shows in this exciting opportunity to see how the news is compiled and communicated. Pupils also had a chance to broadcast the weather, take part in ‘The Weakest Link’ and link up with an outside reporter; none of which are as easy as they may appear! We were able to observe the recording of an afternoon chat show and explore the huge sound stage used for some of the most classic television show of the last 30 years, including Only Fools and Horses and Have I Got News for You. Of course, the highlight for many pupils was the opportunity to stand by Doctor Who’s Tardis and meet a very argumentative Dalek!
