On Sunday 23^rd January, renowned artist Brain Gorst led an oil painting workshop for year 10 fine art students.
Girls received instruction about the physical qualities of the medium and learned to mix paint using a monochrome and full colour palette, finally creating two small oil studies during the day.
Gorst demonstrated his own technique and pupils marvelled at his ability to produce a ten-minute figurative painting before their eyes.
The students were able to inspect original framed works of art and were treated to slide show of the artist’s work in progress along with a fascinating insight into the life of the professional practising artist.
