This year’s Battlefields Trip was a tremendous success with all girls involved developing a real understanding of the individual sacrifices made by men of all sides during the First World War. The four day tour involved visits to trenches, museums and memorials in and around both the Ypres Salient and the Somme. The highlight of the visit was undoubtedly our participation in the Last Post Ceremony on Saturday 27th March where Elen and Rosalyn represented the school and laid a wreath to one of the 250,000 soldiers who died protecting the area from German attack. The most difficult visit was to the Death Cells at Poperinge which was an emotional experience for all. On a lighter note, the girls also enjoyed the delights of Belgian chocolate and the piano playing at Talbot House.
