Big Boarding Sing

June 29, 2016

On Sunday 26 June, three singers from Augusta House plus Oliver from Monmouth School travelled up to London to take part in The Big Boarding Sing organised by the BSA as part of their Golden Jubilee Celebrations.

An intensive but inspirational three-hour session was led by Dominic Peckham who is regarded as one of the UK’s finest young and dynamic orchestral and choral conductors.  The students mastered four songs which included a Swedish folk ballad, a Zimbabwean wedding song and a Negro spiritual tune and then made their way to the performance which was held in the bandstand of the Victoria Embankment Gardens.

The practice session was pure magic!   The energy and passion demonstrated by Dominic was an inspiration to all and this was equally matched by the enthusiasm of the students who threw themselves into the event with total commitment.

The performance in the park was greeted enthusiastically by an audience made of parents, tourists and people enjoying a Sunday afternoon stroll.  Thanks to all at the BSA for organising such a happy and inspirational event!
