Year 7

The aim of this course is to make pupils aware of the importance of following a healthy and balanced diet and use this knowledge to make informed decisions about their own food choices. They will have the opportunity to build and apply a repertoire of knowledge, understanding and skills in order to design and make a range of high quality food items.

Year 8

Pupils will deepen their knowledge and understanding of food and nutrition and further develop their food preparation and cooking techniques.

They will be given the opportunity to adapt and follow recipes using appropriate ingredients and equipment to prepare and cook a range of complex dishes whilst applying the principals of food safety and hygiene.

Year 9

Pupils will further extend their knowledge and understanding of food, diet and health and they will be given the opportunity to apply their knowledge to prepare and cook a range of dishes for a variety of special diets. They will also investigate and discuss new trends and technologies used in food production and investigate the characteristics of ingredients and how they are used in cooking.
